Michael R. Walsh, Vice President
Mike joined the Queen Lili‘uokalani Trust as vice president in March 2006. He oversees all financial, reporting and regulatory affairs of the Trust, as well as leasing activities for commercial and residential properties.
Mike was born and raised in Niu Valley on Oahu and graduated from Punahou School (please don’t hold it against him). After a six-year stint in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam draft era, he completed his education at the University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa with a bachelor’s degree in business administration accounting in 1975.
A certified public accountant, Mike worked for KPMG Peat Marwick for six years upon graduation. Over the next seven years, he held financial management positions within the real estate industry, first with Ala Moana City Corp and later with Kaiser Development Company at their Hawaiʻi Kai & Rancho California master-planned communities. Upon his return from California, he joined the Queen Emma Foundation, a fellow Ali‘i Trust, and served as its chief financial officer for over seventeen years.
Mike is privileged to have been involved in several community/business organizations, including the Waikiki Improvement Association, the Waikiki Business Improvement Association, the Palolo Chinese Home, the Hawaiʻi Hotel Association and the Hawaiʻi Community Services Council.
Away from the office, Mike tries to maintain an active lifestyle by swimming mornings at the Central YMCA, golfing, weight-lifting, and canoe paddling with the Hui Nalu Canoe Club. Mike and his wife, Laurie, live in Hawaiʻi Kai. They have a granddaughter and two grown children who fortunately have been able to remain in Hawaiʻi.
