Omar Bird

In 2013, Omar relocated to Hawaiʻi to pursue higher education at the University of Hawaiʻi Mānoa. Upon completing his Master's degree, he joined LT as the new Data and Reporting Specialist. Currently, he is completing his Ph.D. in medical sociology.

He has over a decade of experience in research, teaching, and community organizing and protesting in Hawaiʻi on various social issues. Being of service to the Queen and to the Hawaiian people has been a humbling and powerful experience, as Omar often teaches on issues of systemic racism, colonialism, and social inequality.

During his free time, Omar likes to spend time with his lifelong partner of 14 years, Noreen Kohl, their two children, Pearl and Huey, and their dog Rowan.

Omar enjoys playing video games and basketball, podcasting, and sharing information and knowledge throughout home, work, school, and around the world.

He is passionate about issues and the people who are impacted, so never hesitate to chat him up.
